Hello Polly Followers

It is with extreme sadness that we bring you this extra update to Polly's page.

Our sanctuary mascot and all round sweetheart, Polly, sadly died on Monday 11th January.  She had not given any indication of the underlying health issues that were ultimately the cause of her demise - infact, completely the opposite - she was running around in the snow like a puppy!

Polly has really enjoyed the snow - it seemed to have appealed to her sense of fun and loved nothing more than running wild with the other dogs - nose to the ground, seeing how much snow she could cover herself with!

Regular Polly followers will remember that prior to coming to live with us at the Sanctuary she had very little to be thankful for - and much less opportunity to have fun and behave like a puppy.  Polly was bought as a puppy-making machine and when she had ceased to be useful at this she was beaten and badly treated and kept in a darkened room - cast aside by a cruel and heartless owner.  You would not have believed, therefore, how sweet and loving she was to all humans - going to prove that, in many cases, animals are far superior beings to humans.

Polly will be sadly missed - not only by everyone who works at the Sanctuary, but also by the other dogs to whom she became a substitute mother.  She will leave a big, Polly-shaped hole in all of our lives.  She will, of course, live on in our hearts and memories forever.

Polly's page will continue as a tribute to her - but will now jointly edited by Parker and Pixie (Polly's closest friends).  We will continue to use Polly's photo as a reminder of happier times (but will include a nice photo of Parker too).

I am sure that you will want to join us in remembering Polly as the fun loving, happy, slightly manic, lady-of-a-certain-age that she was (just as she would want to be remembered)

So, until next time,  when we will return with happier news.

Love (as always)

Parker & Pixie xx
